I created a model hangar for my freshman fall MEAM 1010 class. For this project we were tasked with creating an enclosure that used press-fits, t-slots and bolt and fastener joints that would then be laser cut to create a “lighthouse”. For my design I chose to make an airplane hangar composed of eight individually laser cut pieces that were held together using only press-fits, t-slots and bolt and fastener joints. This project taught me how to utilize different types of fasteners and how to use a laser cutter.
